Our topic for this week is the intensely personal graphic novel Blankets by Craig Thompson. In addition to discussing the art style and narrative, we also talk about the myriad of themes present, including guilt, insecurity, isolation, and family relationships.

In our weekly reads, we talk about the 33 1/3 series of books, Dark Tower, The Year of Living Biblically, The Lost Symbol, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, The Good Soldiers, and our first ever author/listener submission: Finding Gaia.

Music:

Tracker – The Flurry (Pt. 1)

Tracker – The Flurry (Pt. 2)

Tracker – Everything is Beautiful

If you would like to submit works of your own for us to talk about on the podcast comment below or hit us up at our Twitter, @weeklyreaders. We can’t promise we’ll spend a lot of time on your comic/book, or talk about it immediately, or that some/all of us will read it in its entirety, but we can promise that anything submitted to us will get talked about in some capacity on the show, and we’ll let folks know where they can find it for purchase.

Keep in touch on Twitter or let us know what you think in the comments below:
