Tough Guys of America – Jersey Shore

Why write a song about shitty people? Ask the Tough Guys of America

Tough

After years screaming, slam-dancing and playing loud as fuck, these four punk kids gathered in late 2011 as Tough Guys of America (in Belgrade, not really America. That’s ok though.) to slow it down for a change and make nothing but contagious pop tunes.

Is their sound wholly original these days? Not really, you can definitely draw comparisons to 60’s surf, late 70’s attitude, and 90′s shoegaze; as well as the current crop of bands such as Girls, Real Estate, Vivian Girls, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. That said, they are definitely capable of writing a nice pop tune. The hook in the chorus of Jersey Shore reminds me of the power pop inflections of Superdrag specifically, a little less reverb and it would fit nicely next to songs on Regretfully Yours.

You can download their self-released, self-titled ep on their Bandcamp page FOR FREE.
