Singlelicious: mr. Gnome – Bit of Tongue (Free Download)
A couple of years ago, my brother Larry from Blaming Tim introduced me to a band from Ohio by the name of mr. Gnome that they have played some gigs with. I picked up Heave Yer Skeleton (2009) and was immediately transfixed by the duo of Nicole Barille (vocals & guitar) and Sam Meister (drums, piano & back-up vocals). Barille’s vocal delivery, while at times reminiscent of Tegan & Sara, dramatically cuts through dense and powerful compositions that tonally shift from dark and dreary to playfully childlike.
The band is releasing a new album October 25 and has added a slew of new shows to their website. Check out Bit of Tongue from the forthcoming album below.
