News Dump: Wednesday 6-22-11
The Bon Iver love fest this week continues over at NPR with an excellent interview. I suggest listening to the extended version.
Remember Monday’s News Dump when we posted a video of a messed up Amy Winehouse trying to perform a concert? Well according to Mashable, Winehouse’s European Tour has been canceled and her label, Universal Music Group, has removed the videos of the f@#ked up performer based on a copyright claim. At least Jim Morrison had an excuse for being a drunken buffoon, it was the 60′s!
In a not-so-surprising move to cash in again, UMG wil be releasing the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Super Duper Pack of Nirvana’s Nevermind is coming out in September. [via NME]
The Rhinestone Cowboy himself, Glen Campbell, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. The 75 year old will be performing the last of his live performances later this year. [via Rolling Stone]
Middle-age soccer mom soundtrack band Train reveal that they are coming out with a wine [Billboard] called Drops of Jupiter at their successful online wine club. This proves two things to me that I already thought:
- Train is a really f@#king boring band and have always been hacky as shit.
- The mainstream music industry really is going down the crapper. At least Wilco has a branded coffee and Sammy Hagar has tequilla; not soccer mom sex juice.
Jack White of Third Man Records appeared on The Colbert Report in a funny segment for Dr Pepper Presents StePhest Colbchella ’011: Rock You Like a Thirst-icane that is going on all this week. This is the first of a three part interview.
