Babymetal is pretty much the most Japan thing ever (minus the samurai Gundam model I saw in a hobby shop once), so your mileage may vary depending on how amused you are by this sort of thing. I agree that Babymetal’s “metal” vocals are merely functional, but I think the total package works (again, if you’re into that sort of thing). Thanks for checking out the review, guys!

I have had Virgil’s – delicious, but very, very pricey, especially for an unemployed person. Maine Root Beer (http://maineroot.com/sodas/root-beer/) is excellent too if you can find any. That might be the best I’ve ever had.

If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend trying Virgil’s Root Beer which is distributed by Reed’s Inc. It’s fantastic and actually makes A&W (which is often very solid) taste like pond scum. I am only being slightly hyperbolic.

No matter that I am a Mr. Pibb man, I agree with you about the Whole Foods line of soda (none of its soft drinks are organic though, simply all natural). Paying $4.99 for a 12-pack of “Root Beer” and expecting something revelatory and then actually realizing upon drinking it that A&W destroys it in every way is very sad. I am a believer in Whole Foods but, outside of its Black Cherry Soda, its soda line is like a shite sandwich minus the bread. I like the concept for your piece though. Do more of these!

This is some great stuff. And it reaches me all the way in the boonies of Western New York State, which tickles me to no end. I appreciate Netson’s thoughts on the manufacturing of music with only economic viability in mind and without concern for quality or artistic integrity. I’ve been listening to Netson’s new album and looked into The Drones. It’s all real good stuff.

Also Brett Netson has a badass beard. I mean c’mon, he looks like a fucking Civil War general with that thing.

I’d like to reiterate my summing up of his methodology from yesterday morning. He’s a a pile of shit who is paid to be a pile of shit and acts like a pile of shit so that he will continue to be paid to do so.

I’ve had certain relatives try to position him as the Right’s equivalent to the Daily Show. That’s mostly because those people do not understand satire or, for that matter, humor.

the 60′s and the baby boomers produced more good music and more important and positive cultural change – than any generation in world history. Equal rights for all colors and both genders, a reluctance to go to war, freedom to dress and speak any way you like – all good, all important. If anything they didnt go far enough.

Well I agree with this review. And when I first listened to this record, I really thought it was utter $hit. (With the dollar sign, because the FF have turned pretty much into a corporate band) I never thought I would find someone with the same opinion as me, and I’m very glad I did.
So Grohl is still carrying the Nirvana fame with him, and now, with the new 2000′s generation Z, the new marketing technique is “Hey, we’re recording analog! We are old school! If you listen to us, you’ll be ‘indie’!” Big f*cking deal. Bands record analog ALL THE TIME. It shouldn’t be a marketing phrase.
I think the Foo’s fans are ultimately blinded by the words of the poor, poor Dave Grohl. Poor indeed, because, sure, he lost a band mate and friend, Cobain (May he R.I.P) but the one that suffered the most is obviously Novoselic, and he didn’t go around telling everyone about the awful experience and once again, marketing it to sell.
Highly disliked this, and how everyone thinks that Grohl is a f*cking hero, when he has done nothing new.

I bought this on vinyl and love it. I have to disagree with the assumption that all their recent outings were “folk prog”. Picaresque is a fantastic , song driven album as well.
