“We Gotta Get Out of This Place “, performed by The Animals, was written in 1965 by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil (Brill-Building-era composers responsible for many timeless hits). The song’s timeless angst has been embraced by many fed-up, walks of life in the past 5 decades; the military, graduates, and most recently, peasants known as Rockfordians from Illinois who are seeking a better walk of life somewhere else.
