Soundtrack of MY Summer
Just in time for Warped Tour, Less than Jake came out with a new EP: “Greetings from Less Than Jake.”
I downloaded this EP the day it came out and have pretty much been listening to it on repeat since then. Following an EP of cover songs that was basically just….silly, Less Than Jake has produced a complete and well-balanced collection of five songs.
While the songs cohesively form a complete-sounding (although too short) collection, they are also distinct from each other. Poll five different people about their favorite song from the EP and you will more than likely get five different answers. Ask me my favorite song on five different days and you will get a different answer every day.
For a band that formed in 1992 and has been creating music for almost 2 decades, it is impressive that they continue to come out with new music that sounds fresh and consistently “them.” Less Than Jake fans can be picky, as evidenced by the resounding outrange from 2006′s In With The Out Crowd (an album I personally loved, but I may have been the only LTJ fan that did). This EP satisfies old fans, and will hopefully attract new ones.
In the end, Greeting From… just leaves you wanting more. I am drooling in anticipation of what LTJ is going to come out with next. Hopefully it will have more songs on it, even though I don’t see myself getting sick of these five anytime soon.

This EP rules. Though they lost me for a few years, I'm totally unashamed to say that I've been back in love with LTJ since GNV FLA. Can't wait for the next LP.

I liked GNV FLA but it didn't grab me like other releases have. Like I said, I am one of the only people I know who absolutely loved In With The Out Crowd, but this EP just does it for me.
