Eels – Wonderful, Glorious
Summary: "The Eels' mastermind behind pop misery and melancholy appears to have found some steadier ground for this latest release, but "Wonderful, Glorious" is one of Mark Everett's least satisfying collection of songs since… never? Daisies of the Galaxy? A break in the clouds for Everett and company also means a break in the quality of compositions written for this newest collection of songs. Slinky-dink lyrics covered up with Everett's smoky vocals can't offset a spirited set of band performances. One of 2013's first great listening letdowns as it joins "Daisies of the Galaxy" in being one of the few letdown releases in Everett's impressive catalogue. Til next time." - Andy Whorehall
